Range Rules and Policies

As of June, 2010

 

  1. No permanent structures or buildings will be built or removed without the Action Pistol or ORSA board approval.  Non permanent structures require Action Pistol board approval.
  1. No plinking of any kind is allowed .   
    1. Approved targets only
    2. Clay targets are not permitted for practice           
  1. All persons, visitors and participants must wear eye and ear protection during shooting activities.
  1. None of the shooting disciplines may have permanent or portable props left in any shooting bay.
  1. The discharge of any firearm must be within the confines of said bay, not to exceed the open ends of the berm.
  1. Only one shooter will be permitted to shoot in a bay at the same time, except when there is a common firing line at an organized sanctioned event.
  1. Throwing targets is prohibited.    
  1. The safety regulations of the Action Pistol Groups must be followed to the letter. Steel targets will be engaged at a distance set forth according to each group’s rules.
  1. Any training or special events must be scheduled through the Action Pistol Club and approved by the ORSA board except for routine safety/orientation as provided by each discipline.  
  1. No firearm is permitted to be used in full auto mode.
  1. Any time a bay is setup for a shoot, it is prohibited to shoot or change the position of any props or targets unless authorized by the discipline’s Match Director.
  1. At the discretion of the Match Director, when an organized shoot is in progress, any unused bays may be used for practice or setup.  Permission is required prior to use.
     
  2. The use of Rifles and Shotguns on the Action Pistol Range:
  1. Cowboy Action can use period type rifles and shotguns with ammo permitted for use under their rules for practice and match competition.
  2. Three gun matches are permitted.  The rules set forth by USPSA for 3- gun match must be strictly adhered to. If any clay targets are used they must cleaned up at the end of the match.

  3.  Practice for 3-gun matches is permitted in conjunction with a scheduled sanctioned 3-gun match provided there is a discipline sanctioned safety officer supervising. 

  4. Rimfire rifles, pistol caliber rifles and shotguns that are allowed in  approved Action Pistol disciplines, are allowed to be used on the Action Pistol Range for practice with Action Pistol approved  targets only.

  5. Except as provided in paragraphs 13.b and 13.c, center fire rifles and shotgun slugs use is prohibited on the Action Pistol Range.

   14.   Ammo for practice must not exceed what is used in the Action Pistol  venues.
